Central Southern Group
Bill Wilson, our
usual Guild News reporter, unfortunately passed
away in September. His obituary appears elsewhere in this issue.
Following on from
Bill’s excellent reports over many years it feels like I have been asked to
step into giant’s shoes.
Having moved to
Dorset in 2018 I visited the Central Southern Group at one of the monthly
meetings, which are held in the Allendale Community Centre, Hanham Road, Wimborne
BH21 1AS, on the second Wednesday each month from 7.15pm. Most meetings are
track nights, where members bring along locos and stock and run them on the large
test track, or simply discuss a railway topic over a cuppa. On other occasions
there is a lecture or a film show.
I soon signed up to
become a member, as I was impressed with the friendly and helpful 0 gauge
modellers that attend the meetings. There is usually a good selection of scratch-built
and kit built stock to be seen, as well as RTR items.
Several of us
attended Guildex and no doubt most of us came back with less money in our
wallets than when we set out!
The photograph (courtesy
of Steve Flint – Railway Modeller) depicts Wimborne Railway Society’s ‘Horton
Road’, a small branch line on the S&D. It will be one of the exhibits at
our Annual Exhibition on 20th October – a report in the next issue.
If you live locally
and are interested in 0 gauge modelling you can obtain further information on
the Group’s website: www.csg0g.org. or email: csg0g@outlook.com
